The Princess Alice Hospice European Certificate in Essential Palliative Care

This eight week distance learning programme only requires attendance at the introductory session and the final assessment day. It runs twice per year.

This programme of study and associated assessments aims to:

  • provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to develop clinical practice by integrating this with up to date and relevant theoretical palliative care knowledge. Particular attention will be paid to the holistic patient and family centred nature of palliative care, including grief and bereavement.
  • provide opportunities to participate in supervised, personal and professional reflection about the management of a patient with palliative care needs.
  • develop the ability to change clinical practice in the light of increased theoretical knowledge and personal reflection.

Feedback from past particpants

Really enjoyed the course.  Feel that a shorter more compact version of the course manual would be useful for undergraduate medical students.

Excellent.  I have greatly benefited from having done this course.

Examiners made me feel totally at ease and comfortable.

Excellent course, reading material.

Has really helped to give me confidence in dealing with palliative care in the hospital setting, thank you.
