Aims:

The course is designed for pharmacists working in a community or hospital setting. It aims to provide a background to palliative care and focuses on how pharmacists can make effective interventions for their palliative patients. The day will include a mixture of presentations from specialist pharmacists and workshops and will cover both therapeutic and practical issues.

Content:
      • What is Palliative Care
      • Role of the pharmacist in palliative care
      • Basic symptom management for core symptoms
      • Introduction to the practical use of syringe drivers
      • How to access palliative care drug information
      • Prescribing outside of license
