Aims:

These study days should be of interest to social workers, professions allied to health care and nursing staff, who are involved in the delivery of palliative care to patients and families. It aims to increase awareness and understanding of the impact that a life-limiting illness can have on patients, families and professional carers.

Content:
  • looking at our own experiences of loss/self awareness
  • family assessment: issues of communication, difficult conversations
  • spirituality – patient, family and self
  • body image and sexuality in palliative care
  • grief work with children and young people
  • caring for ourselves
