Study Days : Working with Children Who Are Dealing with Illness and Death in the Family Context

Aims: This course should be of interest to social workers, allied health professionals and nursing staff. The day will focus on bereavement theories, the child’s understanding of death, working with children pre-bereavement and case studies.
Content:
      • Working with families at the pre-bereavement stage
      • Opening difficult conversations with parents in relation to their children
      • Direct work with children, including an experiential workshop
      • Children’s understanding of death
      • Bereavement theories
      • Information on resources
      • Caring for ourselves

      Participants are welcome to bring case studies for discussion
