Education and Research are key activities within the modern hospice movement, the aim being to ensure that the knowledge and skills developed by hospices are shared with the wider healthcare community, thereby improving the overall standard of palliative and end of life care available to the community at large.

The education and research portfolio at the Northern Ireland Hospice is constantly expanding to meet the changing needs in today's Health Service and beyond. Our experienced education and specialist clinical team offer a varied programme which provides a range of high quality study sessions in the form of seminars, courses and workshops, to meet the needs of those involved in providing palliative and end of life care. We adopt a multi professional approach with courses at all levels for the full range of health and social care professionals. This plus support for appropriate research into the needs of patients, their families and carers ensures that more patients receive the best possible care at the end of life.
